Recently I acquired an Amazon Fire TV Stick. This device runs Fire OS, a modified version of Android. I had the need of manage the device’s files from from a remote pc, while it is connected to the television. Next I will describe how I did it, so it’s quick and easy.
Intall ES Explorer on Amazon Fire TV
The application ES Explorer is a file manager that allow us to navigate through the file system of our device. Furthermore, it offers some extra tools, as the FTP server which we’ll use below.
FTP server of ES Explorer
A FTP server is an application that allow us to access by remote to the file system of the device which it is running on. To start the server included in ES Explorer, we must to launch the app and follow the below steps:
- On the left lateral menu, select the section Network.
- On Network section, select the option Remote Manager.
- On Remote Manager screen, select button Turn on

Now we have running the server on the Amazon Fire TV. Once started, the screen will show something like this:
It shows the direction of our server, where 192.168.1.10 is the IP direction of the device, and 3721 is the port for FTP access.
FTP client (FileZilla)
To access device, we can use any of the multiple existing FTP clients. In my case, I normally use FileZilla because it is free and multiplatform, so we can use it on Windows, Mac or Linux computers.
To connect to the server, we only need to input the IP direction and the port for the FTP server, and press Connect. Following the steps as this post, it’s no necessary to input user nor password for connection.
And that’s all! With this we access to Amazon Fire TV’s file system and we can upload and donwload content to / from the device.
